Amebiasis
Amebiasis is an intestinal illness caused by a microscopic parasite called Entameba histolytica. Mild symptoms of amebiasis are passage of semiformed soft stools with mucus and occasionally blood 3-8 times per day. This may also be accompanied with abdominal cramps, fatigue, weight loss and intestinal gas (excessive flatus / gas)
Severe symptoms may include bloody stools (passage of liquid stools with streaks of blood) for 10 to 20 times per day, fever, vomiting and abdominal tenderness. |
