Phytochemistry
The active ingredient of
Saxifraga ligulata is bergenin

Boerhavia diffusa contains rotenoids, boeravinones A1, B1, C2, D, E and F besides the new dihydroisofurenoxanthin and boerhavine. The principle ingredient of
Crataeva nurvala is triterpenes (lupeol and lupeol lineolate)

Butea frondosa are butrin, coriopsin, monospermoside, sulphurein, chalcones.
Dolichos biflorus is primarily composed of are ß-sitosterol, coumesterol, delbergiodin, genistein, 2-hydroxy-genistein, isoferreirin, keivitone, phaseollidin, pyranoside.
Achyranthes aspera contains the alkaloids - achyranthine and betaine.
Clinical Pharmacology
Saxifraga ligulata has anti-lithiatic, lithotriptic and diuretic actions.
Tribulus terrestris has diuretic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-microbial actions.
Boerhavia diffusa is credited with anti-inflammatory, analgesic (comparable to ibuprofen) and diuretic properties.
Butea frondosa has anti-inflammatory and anti-infective actions and is useful to control the associated infections at the site of the calculi. Hajrul Yahood Bhasam has lithotriptic action.
Achyranthes aspera acts as an astringent and diuretic. Normout tablet has anti-lithiatic, lithotriptic, pH renormalizing, diuretic, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, spasmolytic and anti-oxidant activities.
Normout tablet is useful in the treatment as well as in prevention of kidney stones. The potent formula of Normout tablet is to maintain the colloid-crystalloid balance and prevent accumulation of the stone forming substances. The anti-spasmodic action relieves the pain in a short span. Normout possesses lithotriptic actions which crushes the stones into minute particles. These particles are flushed out by the virtue of its diuretic properties. Normout tablet has anti-infective properties which alleviates the infection associated with the kidney stone. It also prevents recurrences in cases where the stones have been removed surgically.
Indications
Urolithiasis and prevention of recurrent urolithiasis.
Contraindications
There are no absolute contraindications for clinical use of Normount tablets.
Adverse Effects
Normout tablet has no adverse effect if taken as per the prescribed dosage.
Special Precautions
Obstructive uropathy and massive hematuria.
Severe renal, hepatic and cardiac impairment.
Dosage
2 tablets thrice daily or as directed by the physician.
