Phytochemistry
The principle ingredients of
Hemidesmus indicus are pentacyclic triterpenes including oleanenes (olean-en-betayl acetate, and olean-en-alpha-yl acetate), ursenes (seco-urs-dien-alpha- H-beta-yl actetate, urs-en-beta-H-beta-yl acetate, seco-urs-dien-alpha-Hbeta- ol, a lupene (lup-dien-on-ol), beta-amyrin acetate
1, pregnane glycosides, denicunine, heminine
2, pregnane oligoglycosides, medidesmine, hemisine and desmisine
3.
Ricinus communis is primarily made from ricinoleic acid. The major bioactive compounds of
Moringa pterygosperma are phenolics of flavonoids (quercetin and kaempferol)
4. The active constituents of
Tinospora cordifolia are diterpene glucosides (A-D)
5, cordioside, cordiofolioside (A-C)
6, cordiol, syringin
7, diterpene furanolactones tinosporide
8 and columbin
9. The principle ingredients of
Boerhaavia diffusa are eupalitin-O-beta-D-galactopyranoside, eupalitin
10, liriodendrin and syringaresinol mono-beta-D-glucoside
11.
Clinical Pharmacology
Ostranil addresses its action at COX2 isoenzyme. It inhibits the oxidative depolymerization of hyaluronic acid and thus helps to protect synovial fluid in the joints. Ostranil capsule significantly inhibits xanthine oxidase enzyme which reduces uric acid production and thus is highly beneficial in gout. Ostranil capsule has ROS scavenging ability which prevents damaging side effects of chronic inflammation.
The capsule is clinically validated for safety and efficacy and is safe for long term use owing to its hepatoprotective function. Ostranil promotes secretion of cytoprotective mucus in the intestine to prevent mucosal damage. The capsule does not cause gastric irritation or renal damage and is free from cardiovascular side effects even on long term usage.
Indications
Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, spondylosis, and ankylosing spondylitis.
Contraindications
